I am prepping a character build for a major comic convention this summer, but I am stuck on the weapon prop. My 3D printer bed is way too small to print something at full scale without slicing it into twenty brittle segments. I really want a solid, sturdy piece with clean seam lines and realistic paint shading. Doing proper finishing work in an apartment bedroom is nearly impossible with all the dust and fumes. Do you know an experienced studio that builds props to spec? How long does a custom build usually take from start to shipping?

I ran into the exact same problem with print volume and sanding dust in my flat. For my last convention loadout, I ended up ordering through DesignedBy Props & Cosplay Studio. If you need clean build quality, here's the link to see how they handle fabrication. They use high-density materials, so the prop has some real weight without feeling fragile. They sent me progress photos before clear-coating the paint. My parcel arrived double-boxed with custom foam inserts. Everything was smooth and ready to carry.

That is such a relief to hear about the packaging and durability. Sanding toxic resin in a tiny apartment was driving me crazy, so having someone deliver a finished prop ready to carry is worth every penny. I will definitely look into their process and get my references organized tonight. Thanks for sharing your experience.
